The dress code at Prince Hall will be strictly enforced. Below is the accepted attire for our students:

  • Girls: Navy blue skirts, navy jumper dress, navy slacks, light blue golf-style shirt (long sleeves in winter, short sleeves in summer), navy blue tights, and dark shoes.
Grade 5:
  • Boys: Navy slacks, Kelly green golf-style shirt (long sleeves in winter, short sleeves in summer), and dark shoes.
  • Girls: Navy blue skirts, navy jumper dress, navy slacks, Kelly green golf-style shirt (long sleeves in winter, short sleeves in summer), navy blue tights, and dark shoes.

Students who repeatedly fail to wear the proper uniform will receive After School Detentions. On gym days, wearing the gym uniform is mandatory. The gym uniform consists of a blue T-shirt with the Prince Hall logo and blue shorts or sweatpants.

  • Please note that hats, oversized shirts, baggy pants, and sweatbands are not permitted. Blue jeans under a dress or skirt are also unacceptable. Students who are out of uniform may be asked to sit out of gym class, which could impact their grade. Additionally, repeated failure to wear the gym uniform may result in disciplinary actions.

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential for a child to succeed in school. Most subjects are taught in sequence, requiring the understanding of each concept in the order of its presentation. Persistent absenteeism creates a gap in the student’s acquisition of knowledge, which frequently leads to lower grades. Excessive unexcused absences are reported to truancy court and the administration may recommend Saturday School for students.

It is important to recognize that frequent tardiness and/or absence from school accumulates valuable minutes and hours of lost instructional time. Missed instructional time can affect your child’s ability to be successful in school. Please make every effort to have your child present and on time each day to ensure a happy and productive school year.

Students are marked late when arriving past 9:05 am.

Please send excuse notes to your child’s teacher no later than 3 days after the date of the absence.

The following reasons are the only recognized excused absences:

  • Personal illness
  • Family illness
  • Religious holiday

Lateness Policy

A little late is TOO late!

Attending school on time is your child’s responsibility, just like adults have responsibilities at work. When your child arrives late, there are specific consequences. They will need to report to the late desk to receive a late slip, which is required for entry into class. No student will be admitted to class without a late slip. Repeated tardiness will lead to penalties, including detentions and parent-teacher or parent-administrator conferences. If your child is late due to an appointment, please provide a note for the tardiness to be excused. If a student is late four times within a month, they will receive a 15-minute detention. More than four times will result in a 30-minute detention. These latenesses accumulate over time. Failure to attend late detentions could result in the student being excluded from school trips and other activities. Additionally, chronic lateness may lead to a report of parental neglect and the student being assigned to Thursday Detention.

Discipline Policy

Self-discipline is a fundamental aspect of education that fosters self-control, character, orderliness, and efficiency. Students are expected to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, which outlines progressive discipline measures and school-wide behavior expectations. Positive behaviors are rewarded with incentives like extra recess passes, participation in special events, or prizes from the school treasure chest. Consequences for inappropriate behavior may include written assignments, detention, or suspension. Students may also be assigned to Thursday Afternoon Detentions as part of the disciplinary process.
